The Memorial Hall held an opening evening on Friday the 8th of March following the recent refurbishment and extension.

The work was carried out in two phases. The extension and refurbishment of the Jubilee Room and the complete refurbishment of the Main Hall including the provision of a new demountable stage.

The project was first presented during a series of public meetings in 2016 and was the subject of many discussions and presentations.

Architect, Richard Temple Cox, was appointed and after approval of his plans he conducted an independent tender process with four contractors.

It was always part of the brief from the committee that the Main Hall should be very much in keeping with what they gifted to the community in1923 and we feel that this has been achieved.

In order to carry out this work a substantial amount of funds had to be raised so we would like to say a big thank you to the whole community for their generosity in supporting us in our many fund-raising events.

We would also like to thank the following for their support.

  • Biffa Award
  • Lottery Awards for All
  • Richardson Brothers Foundation
  • Ombersley and Doverdale Parish Council
  • And a special thank you to the Anton Fund. The late Stewart Anton was a regular donator of funds to the hall and it was with the permission of his wife, Mary, that these funds were used as part of the project.

We feel that Ombersley has a hall to be proud of and look forward to it being of great use to the community.
